Overview
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Timișoara is the largest faculty within the Politehnica University Timișoara. It offers students comprehensive training as mechanical engineers, with a variety of specializations.
With approximately 2,400 students, the faculty has the infrastructure to support this number and benefits from a rich tradition — its disciplines have been taught since the establishment of the “Politehnica School” in 1920. The faculty currently offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programmes.
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering program is to train specialists with an interdisciplinary training in mechanical engineering, nationally and internationally competitive. The main objectives of the program are focused on obtaining general skills, characteristic of the engineering profession, on developing the basic knowledge to understand the techniques and processes of the field of quality assurance, development of design capacity and assisted design, the development of skills for the design and construction of mechanical equipment, on the formation of the management capacity of mechanical engineering systems and action skills in a productive field for the promotion and exploitation of mechanical systems. The program offers a multilateral technical training for a generalist mechanical engineer, such as a most companies currently ask. Multilateral training results from the modern curriculum, drawn up with a substantial number of subjects from the other specializations of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The curriculum is extensive insisting especially on the opportunity to work on industrial design issues, as well as technical vocabulary development in foreign languages.
