“UPT is one of the best destinations in the world for good studies. At the university I did not feel like a foreigner, especially with the professors. I was treated very well, both by the staff, teachers and classmates, even in the administrative part I received responses to emails very fast from the faculty, if I had questions.
Moreover, UPT has a lot of opportunities. For me it was very easy to apply to the present Erasmus+ programme in France at Albi Carmaux Mines Schools, studying Industrial Engineering for six months. The Erasmus+ application went smoothly, with a lot of help from the Erasmus+ office of UPT, I had no problems at all with the papers, or the process itself.”
Fateh Hakem, Tizi Ouzu, Algeria, master at the Management in Production and Transportation Faculty, Specialization: Quality and Competitiveness Engineering and Management.
“I have huge respect for the professors. I love Timișoara because it is known as a city with a long cultural history in Europe. I am especially impressed by the architecture here. In the center of Timisoara’s old town, there are rows of houses built a long time ago which gave me a strong impression when I first set foot in Timisoara. In particular, the Metropolitan Cathedral impressed me as the architectural design of the church has unique features and is located in the centre along the old streets of the city. The climate is also very pleasant. In the summer it is not too hot, but the spring is the best when along the main roads of the city of Timisoara there are 2 rows of blooming trees.
Last but not least, I mention the friendliness of the people of Timisoara. The people of Timisoara are known to be friendly, hospitable, and always willing to help other people. Their warmth along with their polite culture has created a warm and comfortable environment for foreigners who come here to study and work.”
NGO VAN DUC, Hanoi, Vietnam, Faculty of Architecture, Master of Engineering. The major is New Material Trends in Interior Architectural Design (2019 -2021)
“Here, I made friends from all over the world.”
Valeria, Ecuador, Master in Entrepreneurial Management in Business Administration
“I am from Béjaïa, in the North of Algeria, and from my very first day in Timisoara I felt I was home. Maybe because of the nature, maybe because there are a lot of trees, or because people are very chill, and you do not feel the stress. Timisoara is special to me. When I first arrived in 2023, Timisoara was the European Capital of Europe and it was exciting.
At UPT I stayed in the dorm with the Romanian students, and we got along just fine, also at UPT there is a good contoured foreign students’ community, and I like this.”
Syphax, Algeria, master at the Management in Production and Transportation Faculty: Quality and Competitiveness Engineering and Management specialization
“The class students and the professors are particularly helpful. The faculty of Chemistry as the newest building, very modern with very expensive apparatus for lab research, and this is a plus too. Still, knowing French was a plus, it was very easy to find a job in Timisoara in a call-centre, as French speaker customer operator.”
Elie Kakeu Bertoua, Cameroon, Master in Engineering student in Industrial Chemistry and Environment Engineering studied in Romanian
“Timisoara is cosy, quiet, it is a sense of order, at the same time it is a vivid place for students, the campus is right in the city centre, and everything is at 20 minutes’ walk.
Here is amazing, it is quiet and peaceful, no music in the afternoon or night’ Though, we also tell you that we do have in Timisoara amazing night life, bars, international music festivals, but well organized and some just at the margin of the city so to not bother the citizens.
During the Romanian Preparatory Language Year there were 15 students from: Ecuador, Ethiopia, Syria, Rwanda, Congo, Algeria, Serbia. The teacher is amazing. She takes us to feel the Timisoara cultural life, and we went to museums, the philharmonic, arts exhibitions. It is nice to have a class learning on the field. I feel I have progressed very much, and the course is very efficient.”
Jihan, Medellin, Colombia, Master of Engineering in Architecture
“What I appreciate at UPT is that everything is for free, the bicycle transport, the swimming pool, and the last is important to me as back in Damascus I practiced performance swimming at the Tishreen Club.
At UPT, in my field of Civil Engineering I appreciate the variety of the learnt Software, in Syria we do not have that many.
Finally, maybe the most important impact for me, was the help got from my professor, whom I am grateful to. I talked to him and kindly asked for a job, and he made the link with my current employer.”
Owyss Al Aktaa, Damascus, Syria, Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering
“ Timisoara is perfect student city. Walkable. Though, sometimes in the winter, the weather can be harsh. We are a big Tunisians and Moroccans group that usually meet in the beautiful Unirii Square for a coffee, at Emotion or gather at The View for football or tennis watching. Tunisians and Romanians have a lot in common. Tunisians and Romanians both enjoy dinner with our families, traditional food and are friendly. The city is absolutely amazing and the Computer Science programme I am in will give a competitive engineer and computer scientist diploma.”
