Overview
The Faculty of Engineering in Hunedoara is one of the ten faculties of the Politehnica University of Timișoara, proudly representing technical education in Hunedoara since 1970. As a training center for engineering enthusiasts from various fields, our faculty offers both specialized academic programmes and the opportunity to acquire interdisciplinary skills that are valuable both during university studies and in the workplace.
The main mission of the Faculty of Engineering in Hunedoara is to generate and transfer knowledge to society through scientific research, development, and innovation. The faculty is actively involved in shaping societal development directions and responding to community needs, by providing academic and postgraduate education, as well as promoting lifelong learning for all graduates.
We are committed to using all available resources and collaborating with external stakeholders to ensure a learning environment that supports the professional and personal development of our students and prepares them for a successful future.
The Engineering and Management domain of study, which includes the Economic Engineering in the mechanical field qualification has the mission to prepare graduates of higher education through engineering and economic interdisciplinary studies, with accents of social and legal feature, in order to be able to design, organize and lead productive systems or their components. Through curricula of the study domain, it is provided useful background knowledge for understanding the functionality of productive systems, based on which graduates may become managers of the various organizational entities.
The competences acquired through this program are performing calculations, demonstrations and applications in order to solve tasks specific to the fields of management and engineering, interpretation of technical, economic and management specifications, manufacturing, control and operation of mechanical products, equipment and systems, exploitation of mechanical products, equipment and systems, design, implementation and improvement of management systems, corporate management and resource management.

Career paths range from starting and managing their own business, to working as management consultants for multinational companies, managers in different institutions, or engineers specializing in quality assurance, logistics, or industrial marketing.
Specialists with advanced technical training in computer science, within the field of Applied Engineering Sciences, are equipped to work in any engineering sector where computing is applicable—such as computer-aided design, software development, or industrial automation. They are also prepared for interdisciplinary roles combining knowledge from both Electrical Engineering and Computer-Automation fields.
Choosing the Automotive Engineering study programme, aligned with the current demands of the socio-economic environment, opens career opportunities within prestigious companies involved in design, manufacturing, testing, quality control, and maintenance in the automotive industry.
