Entry qualification

Undergraduate diploma (or higher) All applicants for master’s degree programmes should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent diploma. A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and City Planning, Engineering, Visual Arts, Geography or Sociology is required for admission to this programme. As part of the application process, the applicants will be required to upload : a copy and legally certified translation (in Romanian, English or French). The document shall be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country OR a copy and legally certified translation of the certificate attesting the successful passing of the bachelor’s degree examination for graduates of the current year if the original diploma has not yet been issued AND Transcripts of academic records/ Diploma supplements – copies and legally certified translations, afferent to the studies completed. AND a copy and a legally certified translation (in Romanian, English or French) of the Baccalaureate diploma. The document shall be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / French / Romanian. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Territory requirements	Applications are NOT accepted from the following territories (based on citizenship): European Union. This procedure applies to foreign citizens from non-EU countries who wish to enroll in bachelor’s and master’s programs organized at Politehnica University of Timișoara, as well as in the Romanian language preparatory year at UPT.

Language requirements

Romanian Upload a language certificate proving a proficiency level of at least B1 according to the CEFR. If you do not have a Romanian language certificate, you may: Apply for the Romanian language preparatory year at UPT**OR** Upload a certificate confirming the completion of the Romanian language preparatory year**OR** Upload study documents (diplomas) or school records certifying at least four consecutive years of study conducted in Romanian at a school within the Romanian national education system.

Overview

The Master’s degree programme “Urban Planning and Spatial Planning” is open to all university graduates with an interest in urban planning.

Potential candidates include recent graduates from fields such as Architecture, Landscape Design, Public Administration, Geography, Archaeology, and other related disciplines who wish to pursue professional specialization in urban and spatial planning.

The programme also targets practicing professionals already working in the field of urban and territorial planning who wish to deepen their expertise.

The programme has a duration of 2 years (4 semesters) and includes lectures, seminars, project work, and a final dissertation defense.

Graduates of this programme will acquire the following competencies:

• The ability to apply advanced knowledge of urban and spatial planning theory and history in professional contexts
• The capacity to develop urban and territorial planning projects in line with legal and institutional frameworks, as well as the principles of sustainable development
• The ability to conduct sustainable planning (ecological, economic, and social), using contemporary methods and techniques in urban and spatial planning
• The capacity to inform decision-making through multi-criteria research in the field of urban and spatial planning
• The ability to use contemporary tools for urban planning
• The ability to implement urban and territorial management strategies in professional practice
• The competence to carry out complex professional tasks with integrity, ethical conduct, and in accordance with legal principles
• The ability to assume leadership roles within working groups, fulfill responsibilities within design teams, and develop strong organizational, collaborative, and communication skills across all levels of a team hierarchy
• The capacity to build on professional experience, identify training needs, and translate them into the development of personal skills and competencies
