Overview

The Master’s degree programme “Urban Planning and Spatial Planning” is open to all university graduates with an interest in urban planning.

Potential candidates include recent graduates from fields such as Architecture, Landscape Design, Public Administration, Geography, Archaeology, and other related disciplines who wish to pursue professional specialization in urban and spatial planning.

The programme also targets practicing professionals already working in the field of urban and territorial planning who wish to deepen their expertise.

The programme has a duration of 2 years (4 semesters) and includes lectures, seminars, project work, and a final dissertation defense.

Graduates of this programme will acquire the following competencies:

  • The ability to apply advanced knowledge of urban and spatial planning theory and history in professional contexts
  • The capacity to develop urban and territorial planning projects in line with legal and institutional frameworks, as well as the principles of sustainable development
  • The ability to conduct sustainable planning (ecological, economic, and social), using contemporary methods and techniques in urban and spatial planning
  • The capacity to inform decision-making through multi-criteria research in the field of urban and spatial planning
  • The ability to use contemporary tools for urban planning
  • The ability to implement urban and territorial management strategies in professional practice
  • The competence to carry out complex professional tasks with integrity, ethical conduct, and in accordance with legal principles
  • The ability to assume leadership roles within working groups, fulfill responsibilities within design teams, and develop strong organizational, collaborative, and communication skills across all levels of a team hierarchy
  • The capacity to build on professional experience, identify training needs, and translate them into the development of personal skills and competencies
